Overview
This guide covers everything a player needs to use the Westemeier Golf App: create an account, sign in, register for tournaments, pay, enter scores, view leaderboards, use course and distance maps, and troubleshoot common issues. No admin steps are included — those are handled by organizers.
What the app does for you:
- Let you sign up and securely pay for tournament entry and picnic passes.
- Help you create or join a team and view your upcoming tee time.
- Give a digital scorecard you can fill out during play and submit.
- Show live leaderboards and scoring updates for everyone.
- Provide maps and hole distances so you can plan shots.
Accounts & Sign Up
This section shows how to create an account, sign in, reset a password, and edit your profile. Do these first — you must be signed in to register, pay, and access scorecards.
Step 1 — Open the app
- Go to the Golf page (golf.html) and click "Launch Golf App" or open app.html.
- If you see a login screen, click "Sign Up" to create a new account.
Step 2 — Create your account
- Enter your full name and the email address you want to use. Use a valid email so you can receive confirmations.
- Choose a password (eight characters or more is recommended).
- Click "Create Account" or "Sign Up". You may be asked to confirm your email — check your inbox and spam folder.
Step 3 — Sign in
- Open the app and click "Sign In".
- Enter the same email and password you used to sign up.
- If you used a social login (Google, Apple), choose that provider instead.
Forgot password?
- On the login screen, click "Forgot password".
- Enter your email and follow the link in the password-reset email to set a new password.
Profile settings
After signing in, open the user menu (usually top-right). You can:
- Edit your display name
- Upload an avatar (profile photo)
- Add a phone number for tournament communications
Profile changes save immediately. If you see a permission or network error, retry and check your connection.
Payments & Picnic Passes
Payments are processed during registration. The app uses a secure payment provider — you do not enter payment details on a public forum. Follow these steps to pay for entry or picnic passes.
How to pay
- From the tournament details or registration flow, choose the registration type (individual or team) and any add-ons (picnic pass, cart, etc.).
- Click "Proceed to payment". You will see a payment form embedded in the app.
- Enter your card number, expiry, CVC, and billing ZIP (or choose a saved payment method if available).
- Click "Pay". Wait for confirmation — do not close the browser while payment is processing.
- On success you will see a confirmation screen and receive an email receipt if your email is correct.
Saved payments & receipts
If you complete a payment successfully, you may be given an option to save the method for future use. Receipts are stored by the payment provider and emailed; the app may also keep a short payment record in your account.
Problems paying?
- Double-check card number, expiry, and CVC.
- Try a different card if the bank declines.
- If you get an error about the server, try again after a few minutes. If it persists, contact an organizer.
Cancellations and refunds
Refund policies are set by organizers. If you need a refund, contact the tournament admin with your payment receipt.
UI Walkthrough
This app is organized into clear sections. Here is what each important screen contains and how to use it.
Dashboard
Shows the active tournament, your registrations, and quick links (Register, Scorecard, Leaderboard). Use the dashboard to jump to a tournament or see status badges (Registered, Paid, Checked-in).
Tournament Details
Each tournament has its own page with:
- Overview and schedule
- Registration button (when open)
- Map and course info
- Leaderboards and hole games
Register / My Registrations
Register is where you choose to sign up. After registering, visit "My Registrations" to manage or cancel (if allowed).
Scorecards
Your team's digital scorecard is accessible from the tournament or My Registrations. It shows 18 holes (or fewer) with inputs for each hole. Save as you go. The app will warn when a value looks invalid (e.g., negative strokes).
Leaderboard
Shows team and individual rankings. It updates in real time during the tournament so you can follow progress live.
Notifications
The app can send announcements, payment reminders, and score updates. Allow notifications in your browser or enable SMS (if offered) to receive them.
Registering For A Tournament
Follow these hands-on steps to sign up as an individual or create/join a team.
Step-by-step (individual)
- Sign in to the app.
- Open the tournament page and click "Register".
- Choose "Individual" and enter your details (name, phone, handicap if asked).
- Choose any add-ons and proceed to payment.
- After payment, you will see a confirmation and your registration appears under "My Registrations".
Step-by-step (team)
- Sign in to the app.
- Open the tournament page and click "Register".
- Choose "Create Team" and give your team a name.
- Invite or add players by email or allow them to join via the team code (if provided).
- Pay for the team slots or have each player pay their share (depends on organizer settings).
- Once the team is full, the captain can confirm the team and see the tee time when published.
Waitlist & Full tournaments
If registration is full you may be offered a waitlist button. Joining the waitlist records your interest; organizers will notify you if a spot opens and you can accept the registration then.
Scoring & Unlocking Scorecards
This section explains how to use the digital scorecard during play, how scores are calculated for a 4-person scramble, and what to do after you finish your round.
Accessing your scorecard
- Open the app and go to "My Registrations" or the tournament details page.
- Select your team and click "Open Scorecard".
- If the scorecard is locked, check the tournament's state (scoring may only open on tournament day) or request an admin to unlock it.
Entering scores (hole-by-hole)
- For each hole enter the number of strokes for your team (or your player, depending on format).
- Press "Save" after a hole to store progress — the app saves each entry to the cloud so you won't lose it if your device dies.
- After the final hole, tap "Submit Final Card" to lock it for admin verification.
4-person scramble scoring (simple explanation)
In a 4-person scramble, each player tees off, the team chooses the best tee shot, then each player plays from that spot, repeating until the hole is finished. The team's score for the hole is the total number of strokes taken to hole out from each chosen position. The app computes the team's total by summing hole scores across 18 holes.
Tie-breakers & verification
When two teams tie the app uses configured tie-breakers (e.g., most birdies, back-nine score). Admins verify and finalize rankings after checking submitted cards.
After you submit
- Your submission triggers a notification to your teammates (if notifications are enabled).
- Admins may review and finalize results; you may be contacted if there are discrepancies.
Location Map & Distance Map
The maps help you find the course and plan hole play. Use the course map to get driving directions and the distance map for hole-by-hole yardages.
Open the course map
- Open the tournament details and click "Course Map" or "Location".
- The app will show a map with the course pin and a "Directions" link for your device's maps app.
Using the distance map (per-hole)
- In the course map click a hole number to open the hole detail.
- The app displays yardage from the tee to the green and may show suggested landing zones.
- Tap distance markers to switch between yards/meters or tee boxes if offered.
Tips
- If your phone GPS is off, the app may not show precise distances — enable location in your browser settings for best results.
- If a hole looks wrong, report it to an organizer so they can update course data.
Tournament Schedule & Availability
Here is how to find when tournaments open and when they are full.
Find upcoming tournaments
- From the app home or Golf page, open "Events" or the tournament list.
- Upcoming tournaments show status badges like "Open", "Full", or "Closed".
Tee times and shotgun starts
If the tournament uses a shotgun start you will see a single start time. For tee-time formats you may see a scheduled time for your team under "My Registrations" once assignments are published.
Canceling or updating your registration
You can cancel from "My Registrations" if cancellation is allowed by the organizer. Refunds follow the organizer's policy — contact them with your order receipt.
Developer & Deployment Notes (brief)
Only keep these if you want to run the app locally. Skip if you're a player.
Run the dev server to preview the app locally:
npm run dev
For production the site is built and deployed from the repository; admins and maintainers handle these steps.
FAQ & Troubleshooting
My registration payment failed — what now?
- Check your email for a failed-payment notice and any error message.
- Confirm your card details and try again.
- If the card is declined repeatedly, try another card or contact your bank.
- If you were charged but the app shows unpaid, send your receipt to an organizer.
I can’t find my scorecard
- Make sure you're signed in with the same account you used to register.
- Open "My Registrations" and click the active tournament entry.
- If the scorecard is locked contact the organizer (they can unlock it for scoring day).
Leaderboards aren't updating
- Check your network connection and reload the leaderboard screen.
- Verify the tournament is in a scoring state (admins may not have opened scoring yet).
How do I change my team?
Use the "My Registrations" screen to leave or join teams if the tournament allows. If not, contact an organizer to move you between teams.
Contacting organizers
Use the contact info on the tournament details or the site home page. Include your registration email and any receipt numbers when asking about payments or refunds.
